Vortex Flowmeter เป็นเครื่องมือวัดที่นิยมใช้วัดอัตราการไหลของของเหลว ก๊าซ ไอน้ำ (Steam) โดยเฉพาะ เหมาะใช้วัดค่า Steam, Compress air, Hot water หรือเหลวที่ไม่มีค่าความนำไฟฟ้า เช่น ไฮโดรคาร์บอน น้ำมัน น้ำกลั่น และ น้ำ RO ในกระบวนการผลิตในอุตสาหกรรมยา อุตสาหกรรมอาหาร โดยใช้หลักการวัดค่าความถี่ของกระแสหมุนวน (vortices เทียบกับ Velocity ของการไหล) ตามทฤษฎีของ Karman street โดยการวัดตัวจับค่าความถี่ (Frequency) การแกว่งหมุนวนที่เกิดขึ้นบริเวณ Shedding bar จะสัมพันธ์กับการเปลี่ยนแปลงอัตราการไหล ตัว Transmitter จะแสดงค่าอัตราการไหลและปริมาณการใช้สะสม และส่งสัญญาณ Output ในรูปแบบของ Pulse output, Current 4-20 mA ให้กับอุปกรณ์ควบคุมตามต้องการ
